CONTEMPORARY & JAZZ
Bretonie is a Toronto based dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer who is passionate about furthering her dance education while continuing to pass on knowledge to the upcoming generations. She began her training in Calgary, AB where she studied in contemporary, ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, and musical theatre. At 17 she moved to Toronto to pursue a career in dance. Bretonie is currently a dancer with Jasmyn Fyffe Dance Company and has performed in critically acclaimed ‘Pulse’ in Montreal, North Bay, Brooklyn NY, and Toronto. Most recently she traveled with the company to present a new work in Birmingham (UK), and participated in a creative residency in Berlin (Germany) where she was able to collaborate with other artists to broaden her movement vocabulary and explore new methods of generating choreography.
Additionally, she has appeared in Toronto’s fringe festival with ReActive dance theatre in ‘Gunshot’ (2014) as well as a part of RiaToss productions ‘Marina Antoinette’ (2013). While contemporary dance has been the recent focus of her career Bretonie has also had the opportunity to learn and work in a variety of styles of dance under many different choreographers. This has given her a broad spectrum of performance experience ranging from performing in fashion shows, to music videos for local artists as well as live improvisational performance. Bretonie brings this experience to the classroom and strives to share her knowledge with other aspiring dance professionals.
She is an active teacher within Toronto as well as in her hometown Calgary and hopes to continue branching out and share her growing knowledge with the coming generations.
